Ways to Give

Income-Producing Gifts

You can support ALL while ensuring a reliable income during your retirement years through a charitable gift annuity.

A charitable gift annuity allows you to make a donation to ALL, and in return, we agree to provide you (and another beneficiary, if desired) with a fixed annual payment for the rest of your life. The remaining funds will go toward supporting our mission.

This donation option offers you reliable income for life, while enabling ALL to advance its work. Additionally, you may be eligible for several tax benefits based on how you fund the gift.

If you fund the annuity with cash or appreciated property, you can qualify for a federal income tax deduction, assuming you itemize. Using appreciated property can also help reduce capital gains taxes.

If you’re 70½ or older, you can fund a gift annuity with your IRA assets. You may make a one-time contribution of up to $53,000, which won’t qualify for an income tax deduction but will avoid income tax on the transfer and count toward your required minimum distributions.

An Example of How It Works

Mark, 76, and Suzanne, 72, wish to make a contribution to ALL while ensuring reliable income throughout their retirement. They fund a $25,000 charitable gift annuity using appreciated stock they originally purchased for $10,000.

Given their ages, they qualify for a payment rate of 6.0%, meaning they will receive $1,500 annually for the rest of their lives. Additionally, they are eligible for a federal income tax charitable deduction of $8,792* when they itemize.

*Based on a 5.2% charitable midterm federal rate. Deductions and calculations will vary depending on your personal circumstances.
